Recent changes to facebook are having their impact on small and large business using it as a commercial platform. fBs recent move making it harder to post on people’s timelines is one factor for the reported decline in fBs business impact. Another might be the fact that I believe fB prioritises the use of its ads to get engagement. According to a Sensis analyst small businesses though are less impacted than large.
Only about half of the small businesses that have invested in social media know how much they are spending on it overall, and 80 per cent have no social strategy.
I’d agree and add that in my experience its worse than that, in that small business just don’t treat it as anything more than an occasional media for ‘throwing the odd thing up there’ to quote from a client.
